Point Park University students will be working alongside Wine to Water in the city of Santiago, reporting on the home of their ceramic water filter factory. Many families on the island suffer from water-related illnesses that take the lives of 1,300 Dominicans and 5,700 Haitians each year, many of them children. Ceramic water filters remove 99.99% of organic contaminants and last 6-10 years for a family of five. Wine To Water will produce 4,000 ceramic water filters that will benefit an estimated 20,000 people within the coming year.
