Garfield Community Farm

Garfield Community Farm has been practicing urban farming and permaculture on what used to be 2.5 acres of abandoned land. Author and Educator Darrell Frey and Director of Community Outreach AJ Bisesi spoke with Point Park University about what goes into managing an edible food forest, composting plot, chicken coop, and their bioshelter design.

Created by Point Park Students Vania Arthur and Briana Walton with guidance from Times Leader Photojournalist Sean McKeag.

Walton, Arthur and McKeag participated in the 2016 Multimedia Workshop, hosted by the Point Park University Environmental Journalism Program . During the two-day workshop, students and mentors were paired up and sent out to report on an assigned story topic, with the deadline set to 5:00 the next day.

A big thank you to our mentor, Sean McKeag and to Garfield Community Farm for participating!
